bday boy

Happy birthday to my sweet boyfriend a.k.a. my personal photographer! It's always hard to pick a good gift for someone you love, because you want it to be perfect. When we started dating we probably got each other cheesy things, like a perfume or a framed photograph. We are now at the point where we just like to surprise each other with awesome things. So this is what I got my boyfriend: a surprise visit to Maastricht, a city in the south of the Netherlands and capital of the province Limburg. Due to the location this city feels very Belgian and at times even a little bit French. We stayed at a cool design hotel called Trash Deluxe.
Since we had so much fun I thought it was nice to share some pictures. Maastricht is definitely worth visiting if you are looking for a laidback city break.

blogger battle look #3

I wish a week had more than 7 days, le sigh. I shouldn't be complaining considering I actually have a job and I know tons of people are still on the hunt. Not here to rub it in, working fulltime comes with downsides as well.
I'm having a hard time finding time to blog or do other fun things, so I'm glad I'm competing in this blogger battle, which gives me a reason to *blog*. I think this battle is a really fun opportunity to experiment with my style. I hope you like it so far and of course I hope you are voting!

Here is the third look of the blogger battle! You probably know by now that I'm a sucker for colours and prints. But I also love a great black and white outfit every now and then. So that's what I decided to go for when I received this cute LA sisters crop top.

As you may notice my make-up is a little heavier than normal. I had a photoshoot today and there was a make-up artist on set. Once I get the pictures I'll post them, of course!

Don't forget to vote for my look, I would love to win!

blogger battle look #2

The outfit I'm wearing today is the second outfit for the blogger battle @ Follow Fashion. This time we were challenged to style the ultimate festival outfit, sponsored by The Sting.
I love visiting festivals, so this had me thinking about what it is I usually wear when I visit one. And then I realized that I've developed my own uniform over the years: jeans, leopard print and bright lipstick and nails.
I generally add a pair of Doc Martens to the outfit, but I thought these leopard
booties are quite fun as well, plus they underline my uniform idea!
I'm not too familiar with The Sting, so I wasn't sure what to expect. Luckily I found a cute little number to fulfill those dungaree needs I've been having lately!

Do you plan on visiting any festivals this summer? What will you be wearing?

queen of cheesy posing

I am so happy with the warm welcome during my short time so far in the blogosphere. You never know what to expect when you start something new. So a major thank you to everyone who has been reading my blog so far! I am glad I don't go unnoticed.

Talking about being noticed, I recently got an email from Stylefruits UK with the awesome news that I've been nominated as an Insiders Tip on their website! The person that gets most votes will get a banner on their website for a month. Here's what they wrote about me:

"This blog has quite a bit more than a dash when it comes to all things fashion related. 25-year-old Iris is relatively new to the blogosphere, but we have no doubt she’ll boom over the next few months. With a unique style of writing, gorgeous photographs, and what seems like a never-ending supply of clothing, a dash of fash is a great read and we can’t wait to see more."
Such a lovely thing to say!

♥ ❤ Now of course I need your vote! You can vote over here: ❤

♥ ❤  And while you're at it, please vote for my look in the Blogger Battle! ❤

This blogger battle is definitely turning out to be a neck-and-neck race! Winning will mean an interview and a personal section on the website, so of course I'd love to win!

Of course there is something in it for you too, which I'll announce in my next post!

As you may notice my hair has changed: one of the benefits of my new job - designer at the holding company of a couple of hairdressing salon chains, woah moutful, but I don't know how to put it otherwise - is that I can have my hair cut and coloured every once in a while. This was the first time for me, so I decided to go with something a little different than my usual dipdye. My initial idea was to get a greyish lavender shade, but unfortunately this would mean bleaching my hair. After my ombre experiment about a year ago I now know that my hair will end up completely fried. So I went with a different shade of purple. I actually really like it, since it's quite subtle and not wham-shabam-in-your-face purple.

I also had my hair curled a little, which happened hours before taking these photos. I am amazed to see how my usually very straight hair stayed this curly.

What do you prefer? One colour or dipdyed hair? Straight or curls? Do you like to change up your hair every once in a while? Let me know in the comment section!
